Editorial standard: launch recommendations compare current manufacturer specifications, styling, care and price. They are not presented as long-term hands-on wear tests unless explicitly stated.

A capsule wardrobe only works if the pieces are genuinely interchangeable. The TechnoCasual version is not about owning as little as possible; it is about reducing the number of awkward, single-purpose clothes.

The 12-piece framework

  • 2 T-shirts: one cotton, one merino or technical blend
  • 2 polos: one classic, one higher-performance option
  • 2 shirts: one white/light blue, one darker casual shirt
  • 2 trousers: one dark technical chino, one smarter trouser
  • 1 overshirt
  • 1 lightweight knit
  • 1 clean waterproof jacket
  • 1 pair of minimalist trainers or hybrid casual shoes

Why neutral colours matter

Navy, charcoal, stone, olive, white and mid-grey make the maths easier. If almost every top works with every trouser, you stop packing “outfits” and start packing components.

Spend more selectively

Do not make every item premium. Spend where performance changes your behaviour — outerwear, trousers or a high-use travel shirt — and keep ordinary cotton basics where ordinary cotton already works.

TechnoCasual verdict

Fewer dead-end garments. The test is not how small the wardrobe is; it is how often each piece can be used without compromise.
